Without including the monies raised from our charity auction at ASTL 2013, this is $100 more than we collected in donations last year! Well done, everybody!
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came to hang out, especially to our fantastic volunteers. Here’s to a great start to our third year!
And last but certainly not least, photos by talented and always helpful Hammy. <3
Thank you so much to everyone who helped with Can Town this weekend at SoDak! We gathered far more donations than I could have hoped for, and the games to elect our mayor were a blast! Building Can Town on Sunday was an amazing experience!
We filled 11 boxes with supplies for WAVI, collected over 280 books for Readaitrics, 3 boxes of food for Feeding South Dakota, and 2 boxes of fabric for Project Warmth! It wouldn’t surprise us if there were around 100 yards worth of fabric in there! It’s so great that everyone stepped up and brought so much to help our community! Thanks so much!

Seattle Can Town!! Spring 2013 :D I had such an amazing time running this event, thank you so much Ema for being a lovely help, and a special thanks to Ema’s mom, Penny, who brought us so many hand warmies on such a cold/wet day, and drove all of the cans to the food bank for us!!
Thank you as well to everyone who showed up and brought cans, I am super proud of the turnout and I know we have a special group here, you’re all special, Wastucks <3
I’ll miss you all so dearly when I move!! ; ^ ;
Sorry for the wait, it’s been added to the location contacts page.
There will be an expanded Can Town at SoDak Con in Rapid City, South Dakota, May 31st to June 2nd 2014!
WHEN? Saturday, January 4th, from 11:30 AM until 4:00 PM
WHERE? The St. Louis Science Center, meeting at the main entrance/main lobby (depending on weather—ideally, we’ll gather outside to avoid blocking indoor traffic)
WHAT? Multifandom canned food drive and general hangouts!
WHO? You! And all of your friends!
WHAT IF I’M NOT A SUPERWHOLOCK/HOMESTUCK? Can Town is for everyone who wants to make a difference. This is a Superwholock themed event, but ALL fandoms are welcome — Homestuck, Hetalia, Nightvale, everybody.
PARKING: Main lot parking is $10. There is limited free parking at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. The last time CTSTL went to the Science Center, we met at the planetarium, and it was an issue, as free parking filled up quickly. Many people had to park far away and walk a great distance. Please expect to pay, carpool, take public transit, or understand that you may be walking a while to meet the group.
LUNCH: You’re welcome to bring your own lunch, or purchase it at the Science Center’s café. Teams will rotate for lunch, depending on attendance, at approximately 1:30 PM.
DONATIONS: Please bring soup, soap, and pasta (especially boxed mac & cheese), as these items are always in need. All donations are welcome, though: any nonperishable food items or personal hygiene products will be accepted! Please double bag your donations if you’re bringing them in plastic, as plastic tends to break!
COSPLAY: Is welcome, so long as it’s casual and will not bother other guests or interfere with Science Center exhibits. Please, no huge props, no masks, and no face paint. It’s likely to be cold, as well, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
VOLUNTEERS are always appreciated to help sort and carry donations. We’ll also need team leaders to keep groups together.
If you’d like to volunteer, or have any other questions, please email us: cantownstlouis[AT]gmail[DOT]com.
We’ll see you there!
