WHEN? Saturday, January 4th, from 11:30 AM until 4:00 PM
WHERE? The St. Louis Science Center, meeting at the main entrance/main lobby (depending on weather—ideally, we’ll gather outside to avoid blocking indoor traffic)
WHAT? Multifandom canned food drive and general hangouts!
WHO? You! And all of your friends!
WHAT IF I’M NOT A SUPERWHOLOCK/HOMESTUCK? Can Town is for everyone who wants to make a difference. This is a Superwholock themed event, but ALL fandoms are welcome — Homestuck, Hetalia, Nightvale, everybody.
PARKING: Main lot parking is $10. There is limited free parking at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. The last time CTSTL went to the Science Center, we met at the planetarium, and it was an issue, as free parking filled up quickly. Many people had to park far away and walk a great distance. Please expect to pay, carpool, take public transit, or understand that you may be walking a while to meet the group.
LUNCH: You’re welcome to bring your own lunch, or purchase it at the Science Center’s café. Teams will rotate for lunch, depending on attendance, at approximately 1:30 PM.
DONATIONS: Please bring soup, soap, and pasta (especially boxed mac & cheese), as these items are always in need. All donations are welcome, though: any nonperishable food items or personal hygiene products will be accepted! Please double bag your donations if you’re bringing them in plastic, as plastic tends to break!
COSPLAY: Is welcome, so long as it’s casual and will not bother other guests or interfere with Science Center exhibits. Please, no huge props, no masks, and no face paint. It’s likely to be cold, as well, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
VOLUNTEERS are always appreciated to help sort and carry donations. We’ll also need team leaders to keep groups together.
If you’d like to volunteer, or have any other questions, please email us: cantownstlouis[AT]gmail[DOT]com.
We’ll see you there!
I know this is very last minute, but if you are from the Midwest and are attending, or are interested in attending a convention this January, the Central Illinois Can Town group is holding a Homestuck Q&A plus charity drive at Anime Zap on January 4th, from 8-9 PM!
We are still accepting auditions (link to info below) for the Q&A itself, and even if you aren’t interested in auditioning, it would be WONDERFUL if you could stop by and drop off some donations! Thanks!
We finally had the time to go and donate everything! And guess what?
It wasn’t 40 lbs, it wasn’t 50lbs…
So wow what a good haul, everyone! The food bank people were more than happy to take it in. Our box was weighed and luckily didn’t fall apart again.
Thanks to Max, the flame prince, for carrying that load to the car. And of course thank all of you for making this project more successful than we thought!
Thank you everyone for helping communities all over the world stay fed and happy! Let’s have another amazing year.
Added as San Diego contact in the unorganized page.
If you can’t come and want to donate, paypal cantownstlouis AT gmail DOT com, thank you in advance and I’m so sorry to ask

CTSTL presents SPNSTL: A Supernatural LARP Event
Join us for a Supernatural themed murder mystery dinner on October 19th, 2013 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM at the Seven Gables Inn (Clayton, MO).
Registration is $41.50 until September 30th, at which point it will go to the at-door price of $56.95. Ticket price includes a catered dinner and covers venue rental fees, DJ/effects costs, and monetary donations to CAMA’s Helping Hands Ministry and Misha Collins’ charity, Random Acts.
A cast of canon characters will NPC for the evening and perform a skit in three acts. Between skits, attendees will interact with the characters to defeat the Monster of the Week. Teams will accrue points, and the winners of the evening will receive a copy of Supernatural: Season 8 as well as other SPN-themed prizes.
As always, food and hygiene donations will be accepted. The suggested items for this event are SPN-themed, as well: pie filling, hamburger helper, Suddenly Salad, etc. Also suggested are cake/cookie mix, frosting/icing, peanut butter and jelly, stuffing, and boxed potatoes (scalloped, au gratin, etc.) but all non-perishable food and/or hygiene items will be accepted.
Due to the content of the show, we ask that all attendees are at least 13 years of age, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Chaperones may attend free, but must pay for their food cost.
Register here. We look forward to seeing you there!
